History of Walcott, Iowa
Walcott is a small town near the Quad cities in Iowa. I've been working on an expansion of the Iowa 80 Truckstop - the world's largest - and just got back from a trip there. Instead of taking I-80 back, we drove through Walcott - about a mile from the truckstop - and on a back road to the Mississippi. Walcott is a pretty small railroad town - some nice older houses - trailer parks and prefabs on the fringes. There was on house downtown in the older area that had turrets and a tower. I prarie castle, I guess. I love little off the highway towns. Walcott is a good one.
