The Land of Love
Sunday morning and I'm drinking tea with cream and sugar. Just had eggs and toast. It's daylight savings so later than I thought - not even technically morning anymore. I went down and visited Becky yesterday - had a really good time. Becky feel down the night before and split open her knee. Lots of blood and a trip to the hospital for stiches. We were laughing because Becky was saying that she was drunk and the doctor was hot so she was trying to be witty and erudite. We talked about quirky things that people do. I guess for me it's my loathing for overhead lighting. I told Becky how John sees Chinese food as a guilty pleasure and will conceal the fact that he has gone out to eat it. If you ask him where he was he'll tell you he took a nap or something. I had to stop by work on my way home from Becky's house. It was actually ideal since my work is at the transfer point from busses up from Hyde Park and the El or 66 to my house plus it was around 1030-1100 so noboy was there that I had to deal with. Lora called me up to ask me to print out some drawings darker for her. I'll admit the drawings were light, but if you needed to get something done, as Lora did, they would have worked fine. She's really slacking, which is fine, but then she turns around and gets on our cases when we work like dogs. I'm up for my salary review on Monday and I'm already taking steps towards finding another job. I want to believe that they will give me a fair wage, but I don't believe it because they have a long way to go towards that end. I'm going to San Francisco the end of the week so either way I'll have a little vacation to get away from the situation and then come back and deal with it. Now for an incriminating story: I made a mix cd for Sonya to give to her when I am in SF and had to make it on Jess's computer. Jess is out of town and I asked if I could use her computer when she was out of town to burn the disk and she said ok, she'd leave it out. This isn't any great gesture of generosity on Jess's part since she uses my computer more than her own and saves files in my documents folder. So she left and the computer wasn't around and I just knew she left it in her room and so it was. I know she may have just forgotten to leave it out, but given Jess's general attitude of feeling entitled to anything other people own and very protective of what she has it seems typical.
